Habitual violator of hunting regulations agrees to plea deal

In an oddly creative and, some might say, unconventional plea deal that landed in Morrill County Court last month, Florida man Daryll Futch has agreed to give up possession of his 2.5 acres of land on Highway 385 just north of Bridgeport, selling it along with a two-bedroom house and garage to avoid jail time. Morrill County Prosecutor Travis Rodak came up with the idea to disincentivize Futch from future activity in this area. Admitting he’d never done that before, Rodak felt that facilitating the sale of Futch’s property was an approach that better solved the problem, as Futch was only facing some fines for his crimes with jail time unlikely being available as a potential sentence for the violation for which he was accused.
