The 19th annual Lion’s Club

The 19th annual Lion’s Club Basketball tournament was another successful event this past weekend when fifty-five teams in the 4th-8th grade took to the courts at Bayard High School, Bridgeport High School, and the Prairie Winds Community Center. Games consisted of four six-minute quarters with overtime as needed and teams were seeded into a single elimination bracket by their own wins in pool play, then head-to-head, then point differentials. The young roundballers came from all over the Nebraska panhandle, as well as eastern Wyoming to take part in the popular event. Bridgeport had six boys and girls teams compete, with the boys taking the runner-up spot in the eighth-grade division, while the fourth- and eighth-grade girls each won the championship. Elected officials in Morrill County

Elected officials in Morrill County hosted their annual County Government Day for area seniors on Wednesday, February 23, at the Morrill County Courthouse. They visited the offices of the clerk/election commissioner, county attorney, extension service, veterans service, assessor, and treasurer, as well as the roads department and the sheriff’s department.
