City workers were spotted putting up the town’s Christmas decorations on the island and along Main Street during several days last week. The giant Christmas tree at south end of Main Street is over 7 feet across at the base and stands quite tall near the flagpole. Along with the smaller trees and wreaths that adorn the light poles downtown, they were all installed by Thanksgiving Day and festively lit that evening. Crews were back out on Monday, tinkering with a few that wouldn’t light. SARAH STRAWN

Bridgeport High School’s One Act team competed at both the SPVA and WTC conference meets last week with their rendition of the memory play, The Wild Bunch Women, by Nelly E. Cuellar-Garcia, directed by Kristen Kraupie. The high school group also hosted a dinner theatre night at the school on Tuesday, November 16, serving up a hearty creamed corn meal and performing on stage in front of the local audience.

It was Bulldog versus Bulldog as the Bridgeport boys and girls basketball teams hosted a pre-season exhibition game against Gering on Monday night, November 29. The hearty crowd was all in for the event, and the concession stand was open for business as both Bridgeport teams pulled off wins over the upriver teams. The Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs took it with a score of 60-45 and the Bridgeport Bulldogs came away with the victory, 54-36.
