Dorothy “Pat” Stichka, 92

Dorothy “Pat” Stichka, 92

Dorothy “Pat” Stichka passed peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025, just one day after celebrating her 92nd birthday—a final gift of grace. Pat was the cherished wife of Joe Stichka and the devoted mother of Lenard, Richard, and David Stichka.

She was blessed with seven beloved grandchildren: Joseph, Jason, Randi, Tanner, Ryan, Jaymee, and Jaycee, as well as numerous great-grandchildren.

Born and raised in Omaha, Pat embarked on a new chapter when she followed her beloved Joe to western Nebraska.

They spent their first years of marriage traveling the country with the George Stichka Rodeo before settling in Bridgeport. There, she gracefully balanced her career with motherhood, working diligently while nurturing three sons. Her compassionate spirit found its calling as a nurse’s aide at the Bridgeport nursing home and the Morrill County Hospital, where she touched countless lives before her well-earned retirement.

Pat possessed a friendly spirit and boundless energy.

She was perpetually in motion, whether tending to her flower garden, playing cards, caring for her family, or taking her daily walks. She enjoyed many nights hunting for night crawlers to support her time fishing at the lakes.

She never liked eating fish— just catching them.

Those who knew her well discovered that beneath her gentle, quiet demeanor lay a keen sense of humor that remained sharp throughout her life. Even during her time at assisted living, Pat continued to amuse all with her quick wit, clever jokes and snappy responses.

Throughout her later years, Pat was blessed with the extraordinary love and care by her son Richard, daughter-in-law Tonya Stichka, and granddaughter Randi Stichka, whose devotion was a testament to the profound impact Pat had on them and all who knew her. Highland Park Assisted Living was also amazing while caring for Pat in her final years.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe, brother Larry, sister Jackie, her son Lenard, and her grandson Tanner. She is survived by her sons Richard and David Stichka; grandchildren Joseph, Jason, Randi, Ryan, Jaymee, and Jaycee; and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry forward her memory of unwavering love, gentle strength, and quiet grace.

Pat’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and countless small acts of kindness that made the world brighter for all who were fortunate enough to know her.We all will miss her. There will be a small, private family gathering at a later date. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel. com.
