Paul Monte McGee, 90

Paul Monte McGee, 90, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 24, 1935, in Olympia,Washington, Monte was the son of Paul Max McGee and Catherine McGee. He lived a full and meaningful life rooted in hard work, service, and deep devotion to his family.

Monte began his early adult years as a journalist while serving the Korean War, a role that reflected both his curiosity about the world and his commitment to service. After the war, he settled in Bridgeport, Nebraska, where he worked as a rancher and farmer, embracing the values of perseverance and dedication to the land while establishing lifelong friendships.

Later, Monte moved with his family to Arizona, where he began a long and respected career in human resource management with Salt River Project. Known for his kindness and ability to connect with people, Monte made lasting friendships wherever he went. He had a natural ability to make others feel seen and heard and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Monte was deeply devoted to his family. He loved traveling with his beloved wife, Shirley McGee, who preceded him in death, as did their son, Brian McGee. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren, sharing stories and wisdom.

A jazz enthusiast, Monte could often be found relaxing to the sounds of his favorite music. He lived his life with quiet strength, grace, and a warmth that touched everyone who knew him.

Monte is survived by his daughter, Erin McGee Johnson, and son-in-law, Kurt Johnson; his grandchildren, McKenna Webster and her husband William Webster, Morgan Johnson, and Ethan Johnson; his sister Colleen McGee. His legacy lives on in the love and memories shared by his family and friends.

A service will be held November 1st at 11:00 a.m. at Risen Savior Church, 23914 S. Alma School Road, Chandler, AZ, 85248.
