Edna Mae Schieber-Covalt, 90

Edna Mae Schieber-Covalt, 90, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed quietly on January 5, 2026, in Scottsbluff. There will be a celebration of life at the Angora Community Center on January 24, 2026, from 1:00-4:00 p.m.The family requests that no flowers be sent. Memorials may be given to the Broadwater Fire Department. Cards may be sent to Schieber, 23 South Street, Gering, NE, 69341. Edna was born on April 30, 1935, north of Alliance, Nebraska, to Christopher and Minnie Ackerman. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1953.

She married Dwayne (Dutch) K. Schieber in 1954. Two children were born to this union, Dale Schieber and Patty Schramm.

Edna worked as a laborer and caregiver in the Scottsbluff/Gering area for many years.

Dutch passed in August of 1964. Edna remained single until she met the love of her life, John Covalt. On February 14, 2000, they were married inValentine, Nebraska.They resided on the Covalt Ranch north of Broadwater together until John went to the Bridgeport nursing home in 2024. John passed away March 1, 2025.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Harold, Dwayne, Leon and Billie Ackerman; in-laws Myrtle and Carl Schieber and Bert Baxter; also by John’s parents Lewis and Catherine Covalt; and her grandson Joseph Zeiler.

She is survived by her son Dale Schieber (Sherry Fibelstad) of Gering, NE; daughter Patty (Jim) Schramm of Hay Springs NE; special near daughter Carol Siefers; three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
