Betty was born on July 7, 1934, in Bridgeport, Nebraska, to Lewis and Emma Melvin. She enjoyed genealogy and traveling through the USA.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale F. Modig, and two of her four children, Dale F., Jr. and Rhonda L. Lamport.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey Modig, her daughter Tami Modig, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
