A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Church of Christ in Bayard, Nebraska, with Pastor George Kilmer officiating.

Inurnment will follow at Bayard Cemetery in the Veterans Circle. Memorials may be given to the Bayard Volunteer Fire Department. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.bridgeportmemorialchapel. com.

Dick was born on May 15, 1934, in Morrill, Nebraska to George and Elizabeth (Johannes) Schneider. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1952. After graduation he farmed north of Bayard.

He entered the United States Army on February 6, 1957, and was honorably discharged on January 16, 1959. He continued farming for a couple of years and was called back in 1961 to the United States Army to serve additional time. He returned home in 1962.

Dick enjoyed and loved farming and retired when he was 62 years old. The last eight years he drove a diesel tank wagon for Slafter Oil (Westco).

Dick enjoyed fishing in his retirement. He also was an avid Husker sports fan.

Survivors include his son, Jonathan Schneider of Bayard, NE; stepsons Rich Juelfs of Dalton, NE and Jeff Juelfs of Gurley, NE; brothers Kenneth (Jeanetta) Schneider of Lincoln, NE and Bill (Barb) Schneider of Windsor, CO; sisters JoAnne Schneider of Denver, CO and Donna Brown of Columbia, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Shirley Liakos.
