Carol Clara (Ittner) Strawn, 75
Carol Clara (Ittner) Strawn, 75, of Beaver Township departed this earthly life at home on December 1, 2019. Her funeral service was held Friday, December 6, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Auburn, Michigan, with Rev. Andrew Menz officiating. Committal followed at Zion’s cemetery. Memorials may be given to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Beaver and Project Pastoral Education West Africa.
Carol was born on July 4, 1944 to Arthur and Dorothy (Vogtmann) Ittner of Beaver Township. She was made a child of God through the waters of Holy Baptism on September 13, 1944 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She attended Zion Lutheran School and confessed her faith in Confirmation on March 22, 1959. On June 9, 1973 she was united in Holy Matrimony to Don Strawn of Bay City. To this union one son, Allen, was born.
Carol spent many hours with her mom preparing for family gatherings and making Christmas cookies. She enjoyed making potholder blankets, fudge and zucchini bread prior to suffering two strokes. She continued to enjoy motorcycle rides, NASCAR racing, going to the roller-skating rink and euchre nights with Don.
Carol is survived by her husband, Don; her son and his family, Rev. Allen and Sarah Strawn, Eden, Eliezer ‘Lars’ and Elia of Bridgeport, Nebraska; a brother, Don Ittner; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Joyce (Ittner) Jajo.
