Clifford Curtis Andre, 89
Cliff Curtis Andre passed away on January 11, 2019 in Littleton, Colorado. Memorial services will be held January 25, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Community Bible Church in Bayard, Nebraska, with Pastor Bradley Kihlthou officiating and at 1 p.m. on February 2, 2019, at Bridge Church at Bear Creek in Lakewood, Colorado, with Pastor James Hoxworth officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at High Butte Cemetary in McGrew, Nebraska. Cliff was a long time resident of Cherry County.
Clifford Curtis Andre was born on November 3, 1929 near Tryon, Nebraska, to George and Iva (Cassen) Andre. Cliff left home at the age of 16, hopping a train at Thedford, Nebraska, ending up in Montana riding roundup wagons. After a few years Cliff returned to McPherson County, Nebraska, where he met and married Elyene Cumpston in 1951. Cliff worked for several ranches in Cherry County and surrounding areas with Elyene by his side cooking for hands on each of these places. To this union four children were born: Norene, Roger, John, and Caleta Ann.
Cliff served his community as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader, and was a member of the Gordon Valley Roping Club. Cliff and Elyene enjoyed attending and fellowshipping with their local churches and held many Bible Studies in their home over the years.
After the death of his wife, Elyene, Cliff moved to Morrison, Colorado, where he married Claire Wise and worked at Bear Creek Stable and Broken Spoke Wagon giving trail and wagon rides around the Denver area. Cliff also enjoyed work at the National Western Stock Show each year.
Cliff went home to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 11, 2019, at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Claire Wise of Morrison, Colorado; children: Roger Andre of Yuba City, California; John (Mary) Andre of Morrill, Nebraska; and Caleta (Mark) Lewis of Ashby, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren: Chris (Jesse) Andre of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Shannon (Andrea) Andre of Valentine, Nebraska; Jonathan (Rebecca) Andre of Paxton, Nebraska; Natalie (Jack) Arnold of Chandler, Arizona; Amelia (Sam) Buntin of Ashby, Nebraska; Levi (Sadie) Lewis of Hyannis, Nebraska; Curtis Lewis of Lisco, Nebraska; and Kaleb (Kari) Lewis of Cutbank, Montana; 16 great-grandchildren, 12 nieces, 7 nephews, and many, many friends.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, George and Iva; wife Elyene; daughter Norene; brothers: Melvin, Paul, James; and sisters: Elsie Hopkins and Zeppelin Moore.
