Elloise Ewing McVicker, 91

Elloise McVicker, 91, of Lisco, Nebraska, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2023, in Bridgeport, Nebraska.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Lisco Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Darren Emerick officiating. Burial will follow in the Lisco Memorial Cemetery.

Cremation has been chosen and there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorials in Elloise’s name can be made to the Lisco Presbyterian Church. Family and friends can leave condolences at www.bondegardfunerals. com.

Elloise Ewing McVicker was born on April 18, 1932, the youngest of three, to Lionel and Ruth (Testerman) Ewing in Great Bend, Kansas. Elloise attended school in Wiley, Colorado, from fifth grade to twelfth grade, where she graduated as Valedictorian.

She was united in marriage to John E. McVicker on December 31, 1950, in Wiley. Elloise built her career in banking and insurance. She worked for the State Bank of Wiley for several years while raising their family and farming. After their 25th anniversary, she and John bought a farm near Lisco, Nebraska, and she continued with banking and insurance at Lisco State Bank.

Elloise enjoyed sewing, decorating, interior design, and hosting bridge and family gatherings. After their retirement in 1995, she and John wintered in Zapata, Texas, for seventeen years where they enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing card games, and spending time with family. Elloise was an active member of the Lisco Presbyterian Church, where she served as clerk and deacon. She filled much of her time keeping up with birthdays, sending cards to each of her 15 great-grandchildren, 7 grandchildren, 3 children and their anniversaries. She never missed a birthday, and her calendar was always full. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and activities and cheering them on from the stands.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Ewing and her husband, John McVicker.

She is survived by her sister Dolores Leake; daughter Cindy (Gary) Shotton; son Barry (Kris) McVicker; daughter Pam (Don) Girard; and grandchildren: Vince (Andrea) Shotton and Jacob and Emma; Shauna (Travis) Wortinger and Devin, Ashlynn, and Brooke; Bryon Shotton and Caleb, and Brianna; Elisa (Travis) Rodak and Madison and Bo;Trent (Amy) McVicker and Kaeli and Kelsie; Jenny (Paul) Denton and Caroline and Conrad; Scott (Jennifer) Girard and Abigail and Elliana.
