Gust (Gus) N. Blackos, 64

Gust N. Blackos, age 64, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, of natural causes.

A memorial viewing was held on Wednesday, July 19; graveside services will be held at Bayard Cemetery in Bayard, NE, on Thursday, July 20 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Disabled American Veterans Organization (https://www.ihelpveterans. org/) or to your favorite charity in Gus’s name. Gust (Gus) was born on March 6, 1959, to Nicholas and Kaliope (Popee) Blackos in Bridgeport, Nebraska. The family moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska in 1961.

After Gus graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1977, he went on to study atWestern Nebraska Community College.

In his earlier years, Gus had a knack for rebuilding and refurbishing cars. His quick wit and sense of humor always lit up a room.

Gus was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Popee Blackos of Scottsbluff, NE; grandparents, Gust Blackos of North Platte, NE, Constance Vetes of Portland, ME, and Annastasios and Efrosini Roussou of Athens, Greece.

He is survived by brothers Tom Blackos of Scottsbluff, John (Susan) Blackos of Dallas,TX, and Chris (Lujean Berry) Blackos of Tampa, FL; nephew Nathanial Blackos of Colorado Springs, CO; aunts Pipina Roussou and Sophia Xanthopoulou of Athens, Greece; as well as many cousins in Nebraska, Kansas, Maine and Athens, Greece.
