Phyllis Joyann (Freudenberg) Ladine was born July 6, 1935. to Henry W. amd Margaret S. (Fastenau) Freudenberg. She was the youngest of 8 children.
Phyllis grew up in the Gurley area and attended and graduated from Gurley Public School. Her class was the first to graduate from the “new” school, which is now the Leyton Elementary/Junior High School. She married the loveof her life, Richard Ladine, on June 17, 1955, at Grace Lutheran Church in Gurley. They enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage. To this loving union 3 children were born, Troy, Kevin and Lori, to complete their happy family.
Phyllis taught school until she was married and then, at the request of her husband, she quit teaching to help him on the family farm, where they lived until 2005 when they moved to Gurley. You could always find her helping with the farm animals, tending to her garden and helping in the harvest field, as well as always having the meals prepared and something good to snack on.
She enjoyed being a 4-H leader and Boy Scout Den Mother. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, was Youth Group Leader and held numerous positions in the Lutheran Church Women’s group until they closed the doors. She was also very active in American Legion Auxiliary and Eastern Star.
She was an inspiration to all those with whom she came in contact and had a smile that would light up the room. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and Nana. You could always find her playing any kind of game the grandkids or great grandkids wanted to play.
She will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind: Her husband, Richard (Dick); her son Troy of Hallsville, TX and her daughter Lori (Tom) Coviello of Dalton, NE; her grandchildren, Monica (James) Beardsley of Kingman, KS, Kayla (Chris) Paris of Malverne, IA, and Rachel and Erin Ladine of Hallsville, TX; her stepgrandchildren, Tom P. Coviello and Melissa (Troy) Hedin; her great-grandchildren, Savanna Miles, Kevin, Alexia and Nolan Miller, Dylan Chaon, and Damian, Katiera, Raevyn and Hadley Beardsley; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Teagan, Gabrielle and Brennan Coviello, and Trevor Krason; her sisters-in-law Marvel Moore and Joyce (Richard) Gibbins; her brothers-in-law, Duane Ladine and Lyal (Joan) Ladine; as well numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents, Henry and Margare; her 3 brothers, Elmer, Albert and Clifford Freudenberg; her 4 sisters, Leota Barr, Ada Sommerfeld, Fern Neemann and Ruby Freudenberg; her son Kevin; and her grandson Brandon Miller; her wonderful father-and mother-in-law, Art and Elsie Ladine; as well as numerous extended family members and wonderful friends.
