Theodore “Ted” Panas, age 9o, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020 in Bridgeport, Nebraska.

At the request of the family, a private Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton with Father C.P. Varghese and Father Steven Deaver officiating. Burial will be in the Dalton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #301, Dalton Volunteer Fire Department or St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton. Theodore “Ted” Panas was born on December 23, 1929, to Gus C. and Rhoda R. (Walker) Panas in Dalton, NE. He attended Dalton Public Schools and graduated from Dalton High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He attained the Rank of Sergeant.

He was President and Insurance Agent at the Dalton State Bank and was employed there for 27 years. He also worked in the Oil Field as a pumper for 54 years. On June 13, 1953 he married Joan Thompson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dalton. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic church since 1953.

He was an active member of Mintken-Davison Post #301 of the American Legion for 69 years. He was also a member of the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department for 69 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Bridgeport, NE and a member of the Elks Lodge in Sidney. He was also an active member of the Dalton Lions Club and served as chairman of the Dalton Fall Festival Parade for many years. Ted was a Village of Dalton Council member and served as Mayor for several years.

Survivors include his wife Joan of Dalton, 6 children; Debra (Larry) Pederson of Lincoln, NE, Diane Panas of Gering, NE, Denise Panas of Dalton, NE, Doreen (Monte) Myers of Bridgeport, NE, T.G. (Lisa) Panas of Omaha, NE, Deneile Panas of Sidney and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dennis, father and mother-in-law and many relatives and friends.
