‘Failure: A Love Story’ center stage for annual dinner theater
The Bridgeport One-Act team in competition mode after spending countless hours rehearsing their show “Failure: A Love Story” by Philip Dawkins.
The play, which is set in 1920s Chicago, is about the Fail family; it follows them as the parents and three sisters expire.
The mother and father, played by Cassidy Coalson and Kaleb Lussetto, are the first of the Fails to meet untimely ends. The focus, though, it on the captivating Fail sisters—Nelly, played by Sarah Lang, Jenny June, played by Leyva Vargas, and Gertrude, played by Olivia Freeze—who all pass within the span of a year, leaving behind the devoted suitor Mortimer Mortimer, played by Nathaniel Cooper, who loves each in succession, and John N., played by Chance Cooper, an adopted brother whose awkward, abrupt exterior obscures a tender hart.
