Wrestlers compete at Ogallala Duals
Bridgeport wrestlers headed east to take part in the Ogallala Duals on Thursday, January 7, grappling in five matches and placing 5th overall out of eight teams; first place went to Ogallala. In round one, Bridgeport defeated Gordon Rushville 51-12 and lost in round two to Ogallala 24-28. The Bulldogs fell to Gothenburg in round three 33-43 and defeated Mullen 54-24 in round four before taking out Alliance 42-24 in the final round.
In round one against G/R, in the 126# bracket, Chance Cooper pinned Traiton Starr at the 4:50 mark. Michael Lopez beat out Robert Reina in a 7-4 decision in the 132# class before Damien Bell fell Aydon McDonald at 1:34. Trevor Widener, at 152#, pinned Drake Brewer at 2:00 and Steven Menke pinned Tegan Snyder at 1:04 in the 170# bracket. Anthony (AJ) Staman wrestled at 285# and took Jacob Kiever to the mat for a pin at 1:10.
In round two against Ogallala, Chance Cooper got the drop on Cole Stokey with a pin at 4:35, Michael Lopez pinned Max Mueller at 2:40, Damien Bell pinned Merritt Skinner at 2:37 and Steven Menke pinned Blake Wyatt at 1:49.
