Bullpups end season

The Bridgeport Bullpups ended their Carpenter Center Football season on Saturday, October 24, with a 2-2-1 record. The little Bulls qualified for the playoffs with a number four seed and won their first game 34-6, which advanced them to the semi-finals, where they were defeated by the number one seed, the Scottsbluff Rams, by a score of 20-13. It was a hard-fought battle on a very cold fall day.

The Leyton Warriors took to the gridiron Friday night, October 16 against the Garden County Eagles in a game that ended with the Eagles squawking away with the win with a score of 46-12. The first half of the game went to the Eagles while the second half seemed to be a better match up as the Warriors put up a good fight.

Lady Bulldogs win SPVA Championship

In the matchup on Thursday, Oct. 15, between Mitchell and Bridgeport on the Lady Bulldog’s court, the home team came out on top in three sets, winning big over the Lady Tigers. Set scores were 27-17, 25-9 and 25-14 and teammates Karlie Deaver and Ruthie Loomis-Goltl led the Bulldog’s attack with nine kills each, followed by Natalie Keenan-Vergil with six and Grace Dean with five. Teresa Santoyo served up six aces while Brooklyn Mohrman and Avery Weibert each handed out four. On the defense, Sydney Nein and Natalie Keenan- Vergil each had one block, Deaver and Mohrman each made nine digs. Nein also had 22 assists in the ball handling department, while Keenan- Vergil received nine serves. Deaver and Mohrman each received eight.

Lady runners place 2nd at WTC and SPVA

On Thursday, October 8, the Bridgeport Cross-Country teams took to the road for the SPVA conference competition at the Grant Golf Club. The varisty women’s division ran 28 girls while the men had 33 competitors. In the 5,000-meter race, the Lady Bulldogs placed 2nd overall with a team score of 27, ten points behind first place North Plattte St. Pats.
