Grand Island/Hastings—About 325 new and returning Central Community College- Grand Island students and about 390 new and returning Central Community College-Hastings students have received scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year.

Nine local students, six girls and three boys, have been given honorable mention to the 2019-2020 Super-State and All State Basketball Tournament, which will be held at Lincoln in July. In class C-2 All State, the Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs saw Ruthie Loomis-Goltl, Sydney Nein and Mackenzie Liakos make the list while Bayard Lady Tiger’s Jessica Whitebear and Halley Cochran were also honored. For the Bridgeport Bulldogs Luis Garza, Braxten Swires and Cole Faessler received honorable mention for the boys’ team. In class D-2 All State for the Leyton Warriors, Madelyn Watchorn was given honorable mention.
