It was a season of history in the making for the Bridgeport Girls Basketball program this 2020-2021 season, from the starting line-up of a sole senior, two sophomores and two freshmen, to the highest ever Lady Bulldogs finish of 4th place in the Class C-2 State Tournament at Lincoln. With the whole community backing the team all season long, these ladies fought for every inch of the court and every possession of the ball. Until the second round of the state tournament on March 4, the girls had not lost a game since January 9, a 16-game winning streak on the books.
The Bridgeport Chapter of the FFA celebrated FFA week in style last week with a food drive, a pancake feed, dress up days, and more than a dozen activities for the younger grades.
Bulldog speakers are the 2021 SPVA Champions after travelling to Sutherland on Monday, March 1, bringing home the team trophy, as well as four first place medals.
The Lady Bulldogs swept away the competition and advanced to the sub-state level of play after increasing their record to 22-3 in the sub districts last week in games played in the Dawg house at Bridgeport. Ranked 4th in the Nebraska Class C2 High School Girls Basketball program behind Crofton, Guardian Angel Central Catholic and Wood River, the Lady bulls took on Bayard and Gordon/Rushville last week, resulting in two victories.
