The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on Monday night December 12th with all board members (plus new member Jim Lapaseotes) present along with Mr. Lambert, Mr. Schlothauer, Mr. Simmons, and Ms.
Robbins takes first place
Leyton LadyWarriors narrowly defeated the South Platte Blue Knights 53-50 last Friday in a home contest that rocked the house.Taking the lead in the first quarter, the Warriors held on to it going into the half with a ten-point lead, 35-25.Tying with ten points each in the third, the Blue Knights were fast at making a comeback in the final stanza, working their way up with 15 points to Leyton’s eight, and within three at the final buzzer. Dropping in baskets for Leyton was Zaili Benish with 34 points, the only teammate to hit double digits. Shawnee Gamble and Sydney Fortune each had ten rebounds.
For the first time in school history, the Bridgeport High School girls basketball team beat Scottsbluff in a week filled with more wins.The Lady Bulldogs and Bearcats were meeting on the hardwood for the first time. Following a tightly contested first half, Bridgeport pulled away for a 69-53 win to improve to 5-0 on the season.
Bridgeport’s One Act team marched the halls in a victory lap on Wednesday morning during their state send-off after winning the Class C1-6 District Championship last Thursday on home stage in Bridgeport with their production of “Wild Strawberries.” Also competing for a spot at state were Ainsworth, Valentine, Mitchell, Hershey, Bayard, Gordon-Rushville, and Centura, who took the runner up spot. The Centurions presented “Wizard of Oz” while the Mustangs, who performed “The Little Match Girl,” placed third.
