Channy Chhi Laux, daughter- in-law to Jackie Laux, was in Bridgeport earlier this summer to share the story behind her book “Short Hair Detention,” a personal memoir. Her story begins when the Communists took over, progresses through extreme starvation, forced labor, multiple escape attempts and concludes with how freedom was regained.
