Barry E. Smith, 81

Barry E. Smith, 81, of California, formerly of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away January 24, 2023, at his home.

His graveside service will be held Friday, February 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport, with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Military honors will be provided by the F.E.Warren Air Force Honor Guard and the Sons of the American Legion. Fond memories

Barry was born on September 14, 1942, inTopeka, Kansas, to Russell and Marietta Smith.

He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1960. He entered the U.S. Air Force on October 2, 1963. While he was stationed in California, he was Airman of the Month.

After his military service, Barry moved to Denver and spent most of his adult life there. He was last employed with the City of Denver. He later moved to Florida, then moved to California where he was residing when he passed away.

Barry was an avid skier, volunteered to teach the blind to snow ski. He enjoyed hiking and off-roading.

Barry is survived by his sister Jodi Smith, three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded death by his father Russell Smith, mother Marietta Smith, stepfather Rollie Smith and sister Kathleen Miller.
