Dale Richard Shoemaker, 74

Dale Richard Shoemaker, 74, was born in Dalton, Nebraska, on December 1, 1946. He passed on October 31, 2021, while surrounded by family.

Dale was raised in Broadwater, Nebraska and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1965. Dale was a Vietnam Navy Veteran. He was married to Jeanette for almost 46 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as a State Deputy for three years in the 1990s. Dale retired from Caesars Palace carpenter union, worked for Home Depot, and retired again in 2011.

Dale loved to read and work with his wife on their repurposing projects after both of their retirements. He was involved with the Down syndrome Organization of Southern Nevada and served as chairman for several years. He was instrumental in organizing volunteers to work on the office building for the Down syndrome organization. Dale was also active in his Catholic church for many years serving in different ministries.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ruth and Dale B. Shoemaker; his brothers Fred and Larry Shoemaker; and his sister Diane Judd.

He was a devoted family man, and is survived by his wife Jeanette and three children: Julee (Steve) Westlund, Renee Shoemaker, and son Timothy Shoemaker. Dale had four grandsons: Keith (Aliscia) Jones, Zackary Westlund, Preston and Jaxson Shoemaker; and two great-grandchildren; a sister Connie (Jim) Green in South Dakota and brother Robert Lee (Bonnie) Shoemaker in Nebraska, along with several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Thursday, December 2, 2021, with a rosary at 12:30 followed by a Mass at 1:00. He will be interred later in December at the VA cemetery in Boulder City, Nevada at a private ceremony.
