Donna Marie Amateis, 94

Donna Marie Amateis, 94, of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away Monday, September 25, 2023, at Skyview of Bridgeport. Per her request cremation has taken place with a private family inurnment at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Broadwater Fire and Rescue Unit. Donna was born April 12, 1929, at Bancroft, NE, to Herman Blome, Sr. and Lana (Abendroth) Blome.The family moved to western Nebraska in 1937, living on the Camp Rock Ranch west of Bridgeport. In 1947 the family moved their ranching operation south of Bridgeport. She attended school in Bridgeport, graduating in 1948.

Donna married Pete Amateis, Jr., of Broadwater, NE, on June 13, 1948, at the Lutheran Church in Bridgeport. They lived on a ranch west of Broadwater for 34 years and in 1982 they moved into Broadwater. Pete preceded her in death on September 3, 2011.

She loved doing any type of crafts and was an avid seamstress and quilter. She also loved to cook. Donna was an Emergency Medical Technician for 10 years with the Broadwater Fire Department. Working with the ambulance crew was some of her most memorable times. She was proud of her role with them. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church of Broadwater.

Donna was preceded in death her husband Pete; parents; brothers Louis, Eugene and Herman, Jr.; and sisters Joan Wood, Joyce Whitaker, and Gladys Nichols.

Donna is survived by her sons Steven (Marsha) and Phillip (Carol); grandchildren Ryan (Brooke) and Jennifer Didier; great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Maykayla, Kambrey, Stockton, Hailey and Paisley, all of Broadwater, NE; and sister Betty Reuter of Bridgeport, NE.
