Joseph Pigotti, Jr., 93

Joseph “Joe” Pigotti, Jr., 93, formerly of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away July 14, 2022, at his cottage in North Platte.

Joe was born October 30, 1928, to Inez (Hedin) and Joseph Pigotti, Sr., at their home south of Broadwater.

Joe graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947 then began working on the Peterson Ranch east of Angora. On September 13, 1953, Joe married Donna McMann and the couple started their lives together on what was known as the Peer Place.

In 1954 Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served on active duty until June 1956. During this time the couple welcomed Jodine in February 1955. Joe then returned home June 1956 and continued working on the ranch. In March 1957, Joe and Donna welcomed Dan, and then in January 1962, Kay was born.

Joe was honorably discharged from the Army in May 1956, and continued to work on the ranch, raise his family and build up his cattle herd. In May of 1988, Joe and Donna bought their farm 6 miles east of Bridgeport and continued to farm and ranch until October 2020, when they moved to North Platte to be closer to family.

Joe was proceeded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents, Inez and Joseph Pigotti, Sr.; inlaws, Mary and Harold Glarum; sisters, Lucille (Angelo) Monsoldo, Rose (Bernie) Behan, Cecelia (John) Sommers and La-Verne (Kenneth) Burd.

He is survived by his children, Jodine (Jack) Arensdorf of Sutherland, Dan Pigotti of Lakeway, TX, and Kay (Doug) Wright of North Platte; sister-in-law, Shirley Shepherd of Bay Town, TX; grandchildren, Tonia (Luke) McConnell of Hershey, Shawn (Starla) Arensdorf of North Platte, Kimberly (Troy) Connick of Paxton, Kaitlyn (Alex) Arthur and Brandi (Shawn) Jording of North Platte, Erin Wright (fiance, AJ Kloss) of Manhattan, KS, and step-grandson Mike Arensdorf of Big Springs; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Memorial service was held Monday, July 18, 2022, at the Church of Christ in Bridgeport with Pastor Jonathan Seng officiating. Services were live streamed through Bridgeport Memorial Chapel’s Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Bridgeport Alumni Association or the donor’s choice.
