Kris Marie Coulter

Kris Coulter died unexpectedly at home February 22, 2023. She was born to Calvin and Virginia Christensen Coulter in Bridgeport, Nebraska, on March 18, 1956.

Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport on Saturday, March 18, at 10 a.m., followed by graveside services at Redington Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Bridgeport Public Library.

She was the 3rd of 6 children and spent her early years on the family ranch. She attended a one-room school at Redington through the eighth grade. She graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1974 and then attended the University of Nebraska.

Kris moved to Seattle with several friends for a time, returned to Nebraska, and then settled in Alabama where she obtained a BA in History from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, managed a restaurant, and enjoyed a close group of friends.

She moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, to learn the landscaping business and then established KC Landscapes.

She spent many years living in Santa Fe and came to love the area and its people. It was hard for her to move back to Nebraska, but she felt that she needed to be closer to family.

Kris had a great sense of humor, loved traveling, was a consummate reader, kept beautiful gardens, and made friends wherever she lived.

She was close to all her nieces and nephews and kept in touch with all of them.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Calvin Coulter, and her sister, Robin Coulter Lapaseotes.

Kris is survived by her mother, Virginia Coulter, of Bridgeport; sisters Sheryll of St. Louis, MO, and Susan of Scottsbluff, NE; brothers Kenneth (Peggy) Coulter of rural Gering, NE, and Lewis (Susan) Coulter of Bridgeport, NE; numerous nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Cheryl Leatherwood.
