Bulldog golfers finish second in home tourney
The Bridgeport boys golf team claimed a second-place finish at its home invitational held last Thursday at Court House & Jail Rock Golf Course. Bridgeport ended the 15-team tournament runner-up with a score of 362. Hemingford finished first with a winning total of 339.

Dean wins another shot put title in Mitchell
Bridgeport senior Grace Dean continued her impressive start to the track and field season by claiming another firstplace finish in the shot put at the Mitchell Invitational held last Thursday. Dean heaved the iron ball 37 feet, 6 inches to out-distance Gordon-Rushville’s McKinley Grover, who finished second with a mark of 37 feet.

Board shuffles teachers for next school year
The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regular meeting on April 8, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school library. All board members were present and unanimously approved the consent agenda which included the approval of minutes, financial reports, bills and payroll. They accepted the resignation of Janelle Galvan for the end of the 2023-2024 school year and approved offering a contract to Lindsey Ellis for the 2024-2025 school year.The board also approved the first reading of the Wellness Policy and changes to the 2024-2025 school calendar.

County Government Day to be held Friday
The Morrill County Commissioners discussed the plans for the upcoming County Government Day on Friday, April 12.They also met as the Board of Equalization to approve a tax list correction to remove a trailer house that had been moved out of the county.

The IRS should serve taxpayers not work against them
As the 2024 tax deadline nears, Americans are well aware of the outsized impact the Internal Revenue Service can have on their time, attention, and pocketbooks. From supersized agency funding to new reporting requirements on Venmo and PayPal transactions which amount to a “Babysitter Tax” to expanding IRS efforts to take over Americans’ tax preparation and tell them what they owe, the Biden administration’s IRS has continued to expand its intrusion into the daily lives of American families. Oversight and accountability for the policy, resources, and taxpayer service record of the IRS has never been more needed or warranted.
