‘Kicks for Kids’ project brought to the elementary school
Plummer Insurance and Bridgeport Dental Clinic are teaming up with the Bridgeport Elementary School to provide every student in K-6 with a new pair of physical education shoes as part of the new “Kicks for Kids” program.
“The idea came from the school I was at before,” Supt. Chuck Lambert said. “There was a student who graduated whose husband ended up being a doctor in Hastings and her mom was an elementary teacher at Southern Valley. Growing up, she remembered her mom coming home from the first day of school upset because some of the kids didn’t have new shoes and it had stuck with her for all those years.”
He continued to say that she and her husband felt like they had made enough in their life that they felt like giving back, so she wanted to start a program where they would give every kid a pair of shoes.
