Broadwater native starts business promoting Nebraska pride
Growing up in Broadwater, Kendra Goeman has always had a strong sense of Nebraska pride. Now, it’s become her business.
“My family moved to Montana, where we lived for about four years,” Goeman said. “I noticed everyone has a lot of state pride. We have a lot of Husker pride here, but Montanans had a different culture of expressing their state pride. I really wanted to see that in Nebraska.”
While still in Montana, Goeman started making T-shirts for friends out of her basement. Her goal for when she returned to Nebraska was to start making Nebraska shirts. In October of last year, she made the trip back home.
“I started selling shirts at craft fairs and vendor events in the area,” Goeman said. “They sold even better than I thought they would.”
Goeman said she’s always wanted to own her own business. Her first idea was a boutique she thought would be fun as an addition to the local business community.
