Morrill County to host NACO meeting
The County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, September 8, with all members present. After approval of the agenda and minutes of the last meeting, correspondences were read, and claims were approved.
Tammie Ostdiek, 4H Extension Educator, was present to give an update on programs, including lessons on food safety and canning. More people planted seeds this spring and wanted to know how to preserve their foods. The Serve-Safe program was completed at the community center last month for food servers in the area. Ostdiek spent some time at a donation garden in Gering at the Evergreen Community Garden and reports that they were able to donate 1,200 pounds of produce to several places in the community. Also, the Little Garden Child Care center fulfilled the goals on their action plan regarding Go NAP SACC (Nutrition & Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care). This process helps childcare facilities support healthy eating and physical activity. She is also giving a multicooker demonstration this Thursday at Gurley Night Out, which is open to the public.
