Lead testing for drinking water available for Nebraska schools and childcare facilities

LINCOLN—The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) has remaining funds available for Nebraska schools and licensed child care facilities to sample for lead in their drinking water. All public, parochial, and private schools from pre-K through high school, and public and inhome child care facilities qualify. This free lead testing was first announced in August 2020.

Seniors from Bridgeport and Bayard High School spent last Tuesday at the Morrill County Courthouse for some hands-on lessons about county government. Students spent the morning touring the several offices inside the courthouse: the county and district clerk’s offices, the assessor office, the veteran’s office, and the election office. They also saw big equipment and met with men from the road department. In the veteran’s office, retired military members walked students through proper flag folding and had them try their hands at it.
