Letter to the Editor
I served as student pastor of Messiah Lutheran in Broadwater from 1943 to 1945, then as pastor from September, 1945 to October, 1947. My late wife (Fern Beisheim) graduated from Bridgeport High School in May, 1939. This past April 30th I celebrated the 70th Anniversary of my ordination.
At age 95 I am retired! Although I did supply for one Sunday at a congregation 90 miles away while their pastor vacationed. But I have a new ministry–baking, especially for senior citizens at the church once a month, for seniors homebound, for widower in my neighborhood, for ailing people, boys high school tennis teams, city managers, city police, librarians, church bishop, nursing home patients, high school graduates, the neighborhood where I live and family.
