Scrimmages start off fall school activities
The Bridgeport Bulldogs squared off against each other in both the girls’ volleyball and boys’ football program in soap scrimmages Friday night that had fans coming out in droves, if only just to get a glimpse of this year’s teams and get out of the house on such a glorious evening. Donated Gatorade was flowing from the steps in the auditorium, a welcome sight for the athletes and coaches in the punishing summer heat.
Coaches and players alike appreciated being able to have the opportunity to play a match and they look forward to their upcoming first games. The competitors were strong, the younger players stepping up to the plate quickly, with plenty of areas to work on throughout the season. Head football coach Jeremy Reimers said he was impressed with some younger players filling bigger roles, and felt the team was “clean and consistent during the scrimmage”.
