Flag retirement ceremony added to County Government Day

Seniors from Bridgeport and Bayard High School spent last Tuesday at the Morrill County Courthouse for some hands-on lessons about county government. Students spent the morning touring the several offices inside the courthouse: the county and district clerk’s offices, the assessor office, the veteran’s office, and the election office. They also saw big equipment and met with men from the road department. County fair contract continues to be a sticking point

The ongoing issue of the county fairground lease from the Morrill County Rodeo, Farm and Ranch Association was revisited at the county commissioners’ meeting on Tuesday. Commissioner Jeff Metz stated he has been working closely with the fair board and the association to make this the best scenario for our youth. For the third straight year, the Bridgeport girls basketball team returned home with a trophy from the state tournament in Lincoln.The Lady Bulldogs earned a third-place finish in Class C-1, concluding their record-setting season with a final record of 26-1.The 26 wins tied the school record for most in a season.
