Historic agreement seals purchase of fairgrounds by the county
Morrill County has reached a momentous agreement with the Morrill County Rodeo Farm and Ranch Association to purchase seven acres of the Morrill County Fairgrounds just west off of Highway 88 south of Bridgeport, including the animal show buildings and exhibition hall. A long time in the making, Morrill County was the last county in the state who held a fair, not jointly with another county, that didn’t own its own fairgrounds.

Bridgeport Public Schools approves “Li t tle Bridges” pre-school for four-year-old children
The April Board Meeting for Bridgeport Public Schools was held on April 10th at 7p.m.–in the High School Library. All Board members were present. The Board approved offering teaching contracts to Kimi Kramer (currently teaches here now under a one-year contract) and Delenn Rodriguez (currently student teaches here and a para here) for the 202324 school year. They both will teach Special Education. The Board also approved having a pre-school for four-year-old children (Current name of the program is “Little Bridges”) at the school next year. Head Start will continue and students can go to both. Mrs. Stacey Watts is endorsed in Early Childhood and will be the teacher, so there will be a 5th grade teaching opening that will be advertised on the Teach Nebraska Website. If you have a four-year-old that you would like to attend the preschool and have not let Mr. Lambert know yet, please email or call him at the office. To be eligible to attend, the student must turn four between August 1st of 2022 and on or before July 31st of 2023.The following administrate items were covered and the meeting adjourned at 7:45 AM: 1. Donkey Basketball will be here on April 24th at 7 PM. If you would like to buy tickets in advance, they will be $7 or at the gate for $10. Stop by one of the offices if you want to buy in advance. It will be a fun night and there will be concessions. Proceeds will go to the Cheerleaders.

Lead testing for drinking water available for Nebraska schools and childcare facilities
LINCOLN—The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) has remaining funds available for Nebraska schools and licensed child care facilities to sample for lead in their drinking water. All public, parochial, and private schools from pre-K through high school, and public and inhome child care facilities qualify. This free lead testing was first announced in August 2020.
