The Bridgeport City Council met in regular session on Thursday, August 13th at the Prairie Winds Community Center and after routine business, the consent agenda was passed, and claims were paid.
A lengthy school project in the metal shop classroom that evolved over the course of a year and a half, involving six high schoolers and their shop teacher, Todd Janicek, culminated in the city’s erection of a tawny-looking copper-colored sign last week.
During the Nebraska Legislature’s second to last week, lawmakers proposed amendments for the property tax compromise and advanced anti-abortion and hair discrimination bills to final reading. Although senators focused on the tax package, debates on other bills such as parole reform and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) requirements were heard as well.
The Bridgeport Board of Education held their regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, August 10th. All board members were present along with the administration, Ms. Vonnie Brown and Ryan Amateis. The meeting was live-streamed on STRIV and social distancing was observed.
The Bridgeport City Council met in special session for a Budget workshop on Thursday, July 30, 2020. After routine business, Mike Beyer spoke with the council about purchasing a much-needed digger truck to replace the truck currently owned by the city. One was found near Green Bay, Wisconsin, at a cost of approximately $135,000.00. Permission was sought and given to allow Perry Nelson to fly to the location and inspect the vehicle with the condition that he would enter into a purchase agreement with the current owner if he believed it was right for Bridgeport and drive it back.
