For the second year

For the second year, the Cross-Country athletes of Bridgeport High School and their coaches ran for twenty-four hours to raise money for the local Festival of Hope organization. Kids collected pledges and gathered donations before running non-stop, in shifts, for 24 hours straight, beginning at 8:00 a.m. last Friday morning. The youth set up tents on the football field and ran overnight with glow necklaces and rings, running a collective 163 miles. Claire Linders and Bethany Nichols ran the most laps with 15 miles each, and the team finished the final lap together as one. Bombers host district tournament

The Bridgeport Bombers Seniors competed in the district tournament held Friday, July 23 through Tuesday, July 27, on the George Post Memorial baseball diamond in Bridgeport. To the large crowds who were hungry to cheer on the home team, the Bombers gave folks three exciting games to watch from the ten games that were played here during the long, hot weekend.

The Bridgeport Tennis

The Bridgeport Tennis Courts have been busy since opening to the public earlier this summer. In conjunction with the Prairie Winds Community Center, local tennis coach Darren Emerick has implemented a free drop-in Junior Tennis Clinic on Friday mornings. Youth 8 and under meets from 8-9 am; 10 and under meet from 9-10 am, and 12 and under meet from 10-11 am. There is no need to register, and kids are welcome to come to as many or as few as they like. The focus of the clinics are basic athleticism, agility, balance, and coordination, as well as the fundamentals of tennis – strokes, footwork, and tactics. Seven kids have taken part in the educational recreation and there is room for many more. Racquets and balls are available for use during the clinics, so bring a sturdy pair of tennis shoes and hit the courts. Shown here are Logan Noonan, Laurel Pohl and Evan Noonan. COURTESY PHOTO
