Carbon America to launch Nebraska’s first commercial carbon capture and sequestration project

BRIDGEPORT—Carbon America, the first vertically integrated carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) super developer, announced today an agreement with Bridgeport Ethanol, LLC to develop a carbon capture and storage project in Nebraska.The project will capture and store approximately 175,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO₂) per year, equivalent to 95 percent of total emissions from the ethanol facility’s fermentation process. This is the first commercial project of its kind in the state of Nebraska.

Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department was recently awarded a Farm Credit Services grant in the amount of $10,000 for extrication equipment. The specialized equipment is for use during automobile and farm equipment accidents where the removal of a person from inside the vehicle is paramount to their safety. The department ordered the ram, spreader, and scissors back in January and they arrived with much fanfare by the department last week. Here, Fire Chief John Pankowski and City Council representative to the fire department, Dean Rahmig, stand with the equipment, while Lorrain Mann, Treasurer for the department, hands the check to City Clerk Dori Huck.
