From history-making success to record-setting achievements, it certainly proved to be a memorable season for the Bridgeport girls basketball team led by head coach Dave Kuhlen. The Lady Bulldogs tied the school record for most wins in a season by finishing 27-1, while setting a new school record with a 26-game winning streak.

With a roster filled with plenty of youth and inexperience, the Bridgeport boys basketball team expected to feel some growing pains this season. That certainly proved to be true, especially early on, as the Bulldogs split their first eight games and just couldn’t find the right consistency. It didn’t help that three of those four losses came to opponents that ended up finishing the season with 23 or more wins.
The 16th annual Oregon Trail Honor Band, sponsored by Doane University, was held in Bridgeport’s auditorium Monday night, January 9. The all-day clinic saw high school students from multiple panhandle schools, and finished the day with a one-band concert, conducted by guest clinician Dr. Andrew D. Feyes, Director of Instrumental Music at Doane University. Feyes has served Doane as a director and also teaches courses in conducting and music methods, and lessons on the trumpet.
