The Bridgeport High School football team capped off its regular- season schedule with a 7114 win over Morrill last Friday at home.With the win, Bridgeport claimed the district title and improved to 6-2 overall. After dropping their first two games of the season, the Bulldogs have won six games in a row.
In their first loss of the season, and in their first district game this year, the Leyton Warriors fell to the Anselmo-Merna Coyotes in a close 14-12 game at home.Tied at six apiece going into the locker room at halftime, each team managed to grab another touchdown, but A-M gained an additional two on a conversion in the third quarter. Neither team managed to score in the final frame.
Five top ten spots for area runners at Kimball, two at Alliance
Another week meant another dominating win for the Bridgeport Bulldogs on the gridiron, who rushed for 312 yards to cruise to a 71-18 victory over the Hemingford Bobcats on Friday in Hemingford. It was the district opener for both teams, the schools meeting on the football field for the first time since 2006 before Hemingford dropped down to 8-man in 2007.
Leyton’s Lady Warriors had an exciting week as the volleyballers played two games on Thursday last week, and three on Saturday, successfully winning over Banner County and Garden County.They took the Bobcats in two sets, 25-23 and 25-15, then the Wildcats a bit easier in two sets, 25-6 and 25-12.
