The Bridgeport girls’ and boys’ basketball teams opened the season with wins over the weekend. The Lady Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 2 in the state in Class C-2, rolled to a pair of lopsided wins in their opening action. On Friday, Bridgeport earned a 78-34 win over Perkins County and then followed that up with a 75-27 victory over Mullen. “It was good to get the first game out of the way,” Bridgeport head girls coach Dave Kuhlen said. “We have high expectations for this season, but we have many things to work on and get better at (doing).”

November–Lorien DeMasters

Bridgeport High School Senior of the month for November is Lorien DeMasters. She is the daughter of Derk and Chanda DeMasters. She is actively involved in the following school activities: Quiz Bowl, National Honors Society, B-Club, speech, and Golf. At school, Lorien states her favorite class is science class. DeMasters noted that her biggest role model is her Grandma, as she is the one who she looks up to receive advice and wisdom.

MAC All Conference teams announced

The Minuteman Activities Conference (MAC) announced their all-conference selections this past week with Leyton having several of their fall sports team members tagged for it. In football for the MAC and D2-10 All District awards, congratulations go to Brayden Haley, KJ Bush, Justin Ernest, Jonathan Borges, and Peyton Abbott. Honorable Mention was also given to Mason Reimers.

SENIOR OF THE MONTH

Bridgeport Lion Club Senior of the Month for September was Natalie Keenan-Vergil, daughter of Kristie Brandt and Michael and Wendy Vergil. Her parents are her biggest role model because they help her make difficult decisions in life and encourage her to try things that are challenging to her.
